How to Fix Laptop Turning On With Spinning Fan but No Display (Corrupted BIOS Recovery)

When a laptop powers on, spins its cooling fan, but produces no image on either the internal screen or an external monitor, the system is failing the Power-On Self-Test (POST). In over 70% of non-dropped hardware cases, this is caused by a corrupted SPI flash BIOS chip or invalid Intel ME/AMD PSP firmware data.

Diagnostic Checklist

• Caps Lock LED Test: Press the Caps Lock key. If the LED doesn't toggle, the CPU has not initialized code execution.

• RAM Diagnostics: Remove all RAM modules, clean gold contacts with isopropyl alcohol (IPA), and test with a single known-good stick in alternating slots.
